10 Months! Really

The boys are 10 months today. I really can hardly believe it. I do feel like it's been 10 months of sleeplessness, but in every other way, the time has flown by. I say that every month. This is such a fun age and they make me laugh every day. They are becoming better and better friends. They are both mobile now and it's crazy how more often than not they find their ways to each other. Micah loves to be rough with Luke and will crawl on top of Luke and bounce and pull his hair. Luke doesn't care for that kind of play. Although, sometimes that rough play will make Luke laugh. I think the difference is when I or Glen are close by, he's more comfortable with it. Yesterday I put them down, or tried to, for a late nap after brief naps in the car. Well, it was like they suddenly discovered their brother is in the next crib over. Micah pulled himself up to stand facing Luke, and Luke got up on his knees facing Micah and they laughed and laughed. It was the funniest thing. I loved it, but at the same time was really wishing they would go to sleep because I really needed a break. They didn't sleep...

They are trying new finger foods which has been a challenge for me to think of things to give them. They seem to prefer eating what we're eating, otherwise they're mostly happy with pureed baby food. Last week I made rice a roni spanish rice and was eating it on the floor while the boys were in the exersaucer and jumperoo. I offered them a bite and they LOVED it. They ate as much as I would give them. The next night I did the same thing with pizza, only giving them the soft part of the crust. But do you think they wanted either of those things when I would just put it on their high chair tray? I think they were happiest eating off my plate - which is forcing me to be creative about how I feed them and also about the foods I eat.

We moved into our house about two and a half weeks ago. We are all so much happier in our own space with lots of room to move around. The boys have their cribs back which are so much more comfortable and spacious than the pack n plays. I have really tried to get us into a predictable routine and it seems to be paying off in their napping. This week I got the living room baby proofed enough that they can roam the room safely. That's made such a difference for them. I am anxious to get the rest of the house cleaned up and things put away so they'll have even more space.

Here is what our schedule has been looking like.
• Sometime between 6:00 and 7:30 the boys wake up.
• 7:30 - nursing (Luke hasn't been nursing well, so I end up pumping and giving him a bottle after Micah is done nursing)
• 7:45-8:30 – play time
• 8:30 - breakfast (pureed fruit mixed with oatmeal or rice cereal)
• 9:00 - morning nap - I take them straight from their highchairs up to their room to change their diapers, put them in their sleep sacks, and read a couple stories while rocking together in the rocking chair.
• 10:30-11:00 - babies wake up and have play time.
• 11:30 – nursing
• 12:30 – lunch (pureed fruit or vegetable and sometimes some finger food like puffs, black beans, avocado, sweet potato chunks, etc).
• 1:00-3:00 – afternoon nap – I take them straight from their highchairs up to their rooms for diaper changes, put them in their sleep sacks, and read some books while rocking together. They usually sleep about an hour and a half.

• 3:30 – nursing
• 4:00 – Walk down the street to get the mail or some kind of outing and then play time
